Nicely framed. My wife is from the UK, and while she didn't quite suffer the same up and downs, she definitely had her own. I admire anyone who changes countries and cultures in one fell swoop. Brave and adventurous, but I'll grant you it frequently doesn't feel like that during your trajectory. Vastly uneven, bumpy and clouded with the odd window of clarity.
So glad to hear though you feel like you've finally landed and some of what you sort has come to pass.

Awesome writing!

I can completely relate this to my and my wife experience coming to and living in NZ. We came in 2014, around the same time like you and family.

The ups and downs settling in here: got a hardship in visa application, got PR, bought a house, got a job, got rejected for a new job, had no friend, had many people we think friends, and so on. Your article is like a mirror to our journey.

Just literally days ago I asked my wife, while driving home to Wellington after a short holiday in Taupo, do you feel that we are coming home? Or still just a drive from one place to another in a foreign country? We said yes, this is home now.
